Translucence Biosystems recently hosted an informative Lunch and Learn event in collaboration with the Advanced Imaging Facility at the UC Davis School of Veterinary Medicine.

Participants were introduced to tissue clearing techniques, best practices, and applications, followed by a Q&A session.

The interactive event provided an opportunity for UC Davis researchers, students, and individuals interested in light sheet imaging and 3D histology to gain actionable knowledge on how these techniques can be applied to their biological research.

During the event, participants were introduced to tissue clearing methodologies, best practices, and applications. Product Innovation and Business Development Manager, Nathaniel Guanzon, provided an overview of 3D tissue clearing and staining and touched on its utility in analyzing whole-brain and intact tissue samples. Attendees also learned about 3D Tissue Imaging, 3D Light Sheet Image Stitching, and 3D AI-Powered Quantification. Lastly, Guanzon shared some of the tools and technologies Translucence Biosystems is developing to expand access to 3D tissue clearing and AI-powered quantification to all researchers.

We thank all the participants who joined us for this interactive Lunch and Learn with the UC Davis Advanced Imaging Facility. We enjoyed discussing tissue clearing techniques and applications and answering your questions. We are here to serve as an ongoing resource and support scientists looking to become involved in tissue clearing and Light Sheet Fluorescence Microscopy (LSFM). Reach out to us for support at info@translucencebio.com.

A special thank you to Dr. Ingrid Brust-Mascher for making this event possible.

Translucence Biosystems is a leader in next-generation 3D histology and AI-powered quantification for intact biological samples, providing tools that help researchers gain new insights into complex biological systems.

Intern Spotlight on Nathan Hyman: No tissue clearing experience? No problem

When Nathan Hyman joined Translucence Biosystems as an undergraduate intern at the University of Michigan, he had no prior laboratory experience. Yet within months, Hyman was generating publication-quality 3D anatomical data that would later be featured at the 2024 Society for Neuroscience meeting. The following article describes how Hyman leveraged iDISCO-based tissue clearing methods, light sheet imaging, and Al-powered whole-brain object segmentation, to generate regionalized data across hundreds of brain regions.
